Myrrh Essential Oil. What a history surrounding this fun oil. The word Myrrh comes from the Arabic word 'murr' which means bitter (sometimes the aroma is bitter). Historically the scent represents suffering and pain, and is associated with funerals and other solemn ceremonies (especially religious). Myrrh is often used worldwide for spiritual and meditative purposes. Using myrrh essential oil in aromatherapy it can be beneficial for mucus expectorant, phlegm, and coughs. Also to stabilize emotions, lift the mood (I love blending it with citrus), and grounding. Topically, massage into sore muscles and stomach ailments. You can also cosmetically use myrrh oil (remember to dilute!) for skin health, eczema annoyances, skin blemishes, and overall skin health. The aroma profile on this ancient oil is unique - so be prepared - bitter yet sweet, dry yet warm, neutral yet distinct (great as a base or medium note for scent blending/perfume base), earthy and woody.
